Sograte BBQ and Brew

AHA Big Brew is a celebration of National Homebrew Day.

Each year home brewers around the world invite family and friends to their brewing site on the first Saturday in May to celebrate the holiday. Everyone is encouraged to help out with the brew, enjoy the fun and join in on a world-wide toast at noon Central time.

So you have been brewing with extracts, feeling confident in your skills and ready to move up brewing ladder. Sograte Brew School has just the class for you!  Our BIAB (brew in a bag) / Partial Mash brewing class will teach you the basics of mashing with base malts to convert them to fermentable starches with a minimal increase of brewing time and equipment. Previous experience with extract brewing is highly recommended!

The fruit from your trees is ripe and ready, but what to do with it all? Make cider or fruit wine of course! Join us Saturday at 2:00 as local cider and mead enthusiast Bob Schafer teaches the teaches the proper methods and ingredients for making your own ciders and fruit wines at home.

This is a free event and open to the public. Age 21 and up only please.

Saturday, November 3, 2012 is the American Homebrewers Association’s (AHA) 14th Annual Learn to Homebrew Day and Sograte BBQ and Brew is participating in this year’s celebration.

Learn to Homebrew Day (formerly known as Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day) was established by the American Homebrewers Association (AHA) in 1999 to enable people interested in beer and homebrewing to learn how to brew. Learn to Homebrew Day occurs annually on the first Saturday in November, when homebrewers around the world are encouraged to learn how to brew or teach someone how to brew.
