Cactus Challenge Homebrew Competition

The 13th Annual Cactus Challenge, a homebrew beer competition hosted by Lubbock's Ale-ian Society, is taking entries now through August 6th. The Ale-ian Society's Cactus Challenge is part of the Lone Star Circuit which maintains a points system for individual brewers, teams and clubs from qualifying competitions. The Cactus Challenge is open to all BJCP styles and even features the popular Area 51 - Most Unusual Ingredient category.

What is BJCP, you say? BJCP is the acronym for Beer judge Certification Program. The Beer Judge Certification Program or BJCP is a non-profit organization formed in 1985 "to promote beer literacy and the appreciation of real beer, and to recognize beer tasting and evaluation skills."
