I have had a lot of people coming through the store this month that got Mr Beer kits for Christmas and are looking for ideas and ingredients to step it up. Mr Beer is a pretty rudimentary kit that features a 2 gallon fermentor and includes a hopped malt extract, booster, dry brewing yeast and a no-rinse cleanser. This simple little kit has introduced countless people into the world of homebrewing, and many have even progressed into professional brewing.
While the Mr Beer system is complete and easy to use, it is also easy to step it up and make a better beer using some additional widely available ingredients and common brewing processes.
